Innovative graphene composite materials make fuel cell brittle and less conductive
, RWTH aachen/geemany, are recently, plastic Processing research Institute, The Institute of Plastics Processing, referred to as The IKV) and craftsmen Institute (The Skilled Crafts) is running a using graphene filled polypropylene composites research. The study aims to maintain the electrical conductivity of existing commercially produced materials while improving the mechanical properties of the materials. The two plates in fuel cells, made from graphene plastic composites, are introduced by IKV. They first use polypropylene and elastomer to generate composites to improve the elasticity of the matrix materials. Secondly, graphene with conductive properties is added to the complex. While the researchers tried to keep the complexes electrically conductive, they kept the content of the graphene low. This new material will have great potential in the dual pad of fuel cells. IKV are currently processing technology research and development, plans to double plate of fuel cells are formed by compression with high electric conductivity of elastic filling compound, and then through injection molding casting, finally forming complexes. The dual pad of fuel cell is welded together safely, with better air tightness, stable and high efficiency conductivity. IKV is also systematically developing linked technology and testing in fuel cells that simulate real-world applications. The newly developed high elastomatic filler complex is weakened by brittleness and has a great advantage over current materials. It can help prolong the service life of fuel cell and effectively reduce the rejection rate. The project has received financial support from the German federal education and research research in the past two years.
