The MegaGuard 700 catalyst was unveiled at the 2016 clarion syngas conference in xi 'an, China, by the world's leading specialty chemicals maker. The product can protect methanol synthesis catalysts, such as kellen's MegaMax series, to prevent the poisoning of such catalysts caused by iron. This new catalyst protector can effectively capture and decompose iron compounds, thus ensuring the excellent catalytic activity and selectivity of the MegaMax series of catalysts during the long-term use. Iron is a typical catalyst for methanol production. The iron in the steel equipment reacts with the carbon monoxide in the syngas to form the carbonized iron and volatile carbonyl iron. These compounds can irreversibly reduce the activity and mechanical stability of the catalyst, thus considerably shortening the life of methanol synthesis catalyst.
