It is understood that the recycling of PET waste plastics in Europe is 5-9 times higher than that in the production and recycling of plastic products. By 2020, the benefits of using plastic are 9-15 times greater than the combined emissions from production and waste management.
According to statistics, the recovery rate of plastic in Europe reached 54% in 2008. In 2009, European plastic demand increased to 52.8 million tons, of which 50% were recycled, 20.6% recycled and 29.5% recycled as energy. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland all had more than 82 percent recycled plastic waste in 2009.
