Exports of plastic products plummeted in March
China's exports in March were the biggest decline in more than a year, with overall exports down 14.6 per cent. Exports of plastic products are even less optimistic, with a drop of nearly 25 percent.
The customs data released today showed that the export of plastic products in March was 530,000 tons, or $1.94 billion. Exports fell by 23.2% compared with the same period last year, and exports shrank by 24.6%.
Last march, the export volume of plastic products was 690,000 tons, and exports were $2.59 billion.
In fact, the export of plastic products from January to February this year achieved a high growth rate of 24.5%, and the amount increased by 20.6%. Thanks to this, the export of plastic products in the first quarter of this year still increased by 8.1% and 5.9%.
Some economists believe the figures were affected by the long holiday in late February. It takes time to produce and deliver goods to export ports after the export manufacturer restarts.
The market is expecting a further government policy on economic growth.
