Plastic plating products have the characteristics of both plastic and metal. Due to the high stability of the metal coating on the external factors such as light and atmosphere, the plastic plating metal can prevent plastic aging and prolong the service life of plastic parts. With the rapid development of industry and the application of plastic electroplating, it has become an important means for surface decoration in plastic products. Because ABS plastic does not conduct electricity, it cannot electroplating metal/alloy on its surface. Therefore, chemical plating is required before plating. ABS plastic will form an expensive metal film on the surface of the product after the process of roughing, sensitizing, reducing and gelatinizing. This metal film can act as an active catalyst, also known as catalytic film. It can accelerate the chemical plating reduction reaction. It has been proved that silver, palladium and other precious metals have this catalytic ability, which makes the chemical plating process smoother.
