Zhao Jungui said that widespread overcapacity in traditional petrochemical industry, rising costs, profit margins narrow circumstances, research and development production of high-tech content, high value-added products, high-end products, differentiation, become a petrochemical enterprises the main way to win the future competition advantage. The results of the survey show that the majority of multinational corporations have put chemical new materials as the strategic focus of future development and continuously increase their investment in science and technology.

Investment and profit growth in new materials industries are faster than the average speed of industry growth. In the first half of this year, investment in specialized chemicals in chemical new materials increased by 13.6%, maintaining the second place in the industry. From the perspective of demand, high-end chemical new materials have broad market space. According to the data, in 2013, China consumed about 22 million tons of new chemical materials, including 13 million tons of domestic products, 9 million tons of imports and 60 percent of self-sufficiency. In 2015, the production value of new chemical materials in China is expected to exceed 300 billion yuan, with annual growth rate of about 15 percent, about double the GDP growth rate of the same period.
Zhao jungui analyzed that the development of new chemical materials is the key to the transformation and upgrading of chemical industry. In general, oil and chemical industrial production reached a relative peak of $15,000 per person. China is neither a new chemical material country nor a great power. It must accelerate its development.
